Summer Salon - (24 January - 29 February 2012)
Landscape and Still Life
The exhibition Summer Salon was created as an opportunity for local artists to hang their artwork in a prominent exhibition at the Whitehorse Art Space, alongside some of the ‘heroes’ of the Whitehorse Art Collection. Artworks by luminaries, represented in the Art Collection, include such historic figures as Frederick McCubbin, Emmanuel Philips Fox and Arthur Streeton and notable contemporary artists such as Rick Amor, Tony Lloyd and Camilla Tadich.
Members of art groups in Whitehorse have taken up the challenge to provide the curators with a plethora of contemporary works that sit comfortably next to the historic and contemporary figures who have mastered the landscape and still life – both as popular today, as they were in the late 19th century.
